Scholastic BOGO Book Fair and End-of-the-Year Celebration

The PTA’s annual Buy One Get One free Book Fair will be this Friday. The Book
Fair will be open during the school day and after school until 8:00 p.m.  PTA is
also holding the End-of-Year celebration in conjunction with our Celebration of
Reading and Writing event from 6:00 p.m. -8:00 p.m.  Kindergarten through 4th
grade students’ writing will be displayed in the gym and 5th and 6th grade
students’ writing will be displayed in the library.  The PTA will be serving
Italian Ice outside in front of the school.   We hope to see you there!

District Recycling Event- This Saturday!!

School District 54, the Village of Schaumburg and the Schaumburg Township District Library will host a free multifaceted recycling event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2012, at the District 54 Office, 524 E. Schaumburg Road in Schaumburg. The following items will be recycled:

• Electronics:  Televisions, household batteries, small household appliances, microwaves, monitors, computers, keyboards, mice, radios, video cassette recorders, telephones, fax machines, UPS systems, and more.
• Document Destruction: Shred up to two boxes. Envelopes with windows, paper clips and staples are OK. No plastics, CD’s or plastic bags. All paper is recycled.
• Clothing, shoes, purses, belts, hats, back packs, towels, linens and other household textiles
• Automotive Batteries
• Holiday light strands, extension cords, copper wiring, computer wiring, phone wires, CAD V coaxial cable.
• Motor oil and antifreeze
• Bicycles, wheelchairs and sewing machines
• Compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFL)
• Cell phones and other wireless devices
• Eyeglasses
• American flags

Celebrating Earth Hour

Let’s help to celebrate Earth Hour!
On Saturday, March 31, 2012 from 8:30-9:30 p.m. we are being asked to turn off non-essential lights for one hour.  This is a global event organized by the World Wildlife Fund.  The District will turn off all unnecessary outside lights in support of this event.  We hope you can participate!
