Principal’s Message- May 24, 2017

Dooley students have finished up their spring MAP tests.  We are so proud of your children.  They have worked so hard all year and continued to give it their all on their MAP assessments. Every child showed fabulous academic growth this year which is setting them up for a great start for the 2017/18 school year.  We will be sending home the final results with your child as soon as they become available to us.

Report Cards Online June 5

Dooley School parents/guardians will be able to view their report cards online this semester on June 5, more than a week before the hard copy report cards are mailed on June 14. District 54 is piloting the online report card in an effort to share information in a timelier manner and to become more environmentally friendly by not printing report cards for parents who prefer the online version.

I want to ensure that all of our parents have access to this early viewing of the report card, so I highly encourage you to sign up for the District 54 Infinite Campus Parent/Student Portal before June 5. The portal is a website and app where parents and guardians can view their children’s grades, assignments, immunizations, test scores, demographic information and now report cards.

If you have not previously logged on to the portal, contact our front office for instructions on how to obtain a secure Campus Portal Activation Key.

If you have already created an account, to view the report card on June 5 you must first log in to the account from a computer (the report card will not be accessible in the app).

Click on the Report Card link on the left side of your screen. This link will take you to another page, where you will be asked to log in again for security reasons. After logging in, you will see the report card files for all of your children. Click on any of the report cards to download the pdf file.

This year, on June 14, we plan to mail a report card to each home. Next year, we will only be making hard copies available for families who are unable to access the report cards online.

Field Day Teams

Tomorrow the students will switch into their Field Day Teams.  Students do not stay with their homeroom class for Field Day; the entire school is mixed up on each team.  Our theme for Field Day is “We Are College Bound”.  Each student will meet in their team to find out what college they are representing.  We ask students to try to dress in the colors or swag of the college they will represent.  Field Day is Friday, May 26.  Please make sure to send an extra water bottle to school and put sunscreen on your child.  The students are outside most of the day.  Opening ceremonies are at 8:45AM and the day begins at 9:15AM.  Feel free to come for opening ceremonies even if you can’t help out.

Yearbooks Are Here!

Dooley dragons are bringing their yearbooks home today.  There are a limited number of yearbooks for sale.  Sixth graders only will be able to purchase on Friday, May 26th.  All others will be able to purchase a copy on Tuesday, May 30th.  If your child would like to purchase a yearbook, please send them with $25 cash or check made out to “Dooley PTA” on May 26th or May 30th.  Please remember to send the yearbook back to school on Wednesday, May 31 AND Thursday, June 1.  That day is yearbook signing day.  If the students forget, we will have autographs sheets for them.

Contact Jacqi Schuetze with any questions.

6th Grade Parents

You are invited on the last day of school to participate in our tradition of sending off our 6th graders.  If you are interested in joining us, please be at Dooley at 2:15.  Upon dismissal, the entire school will line up along the walls of Dooley School.  Once in position, the 6th grade students will exit the school by walking the halls of Dooley seeing each staff member and student.  Parents can join the line and help say goodbye and good wishes to our sixth graders as they pass by.  At 2:40, the 6th grade students, teachers and parents will end in the gym for a final social gathering until dismissal at 3:00.  Bring your cameras!  If interested, come to the office and we will show you were to go.
