End of the Year News/Principal’s Message

As this school year comes to an end, we have already begun planning for next year.  We have changed some teachers’ assignments in the hope that each grade level continues to offer all different teaching styles to accommodate each child’s learning style.  A great deal of time and energy is put into creating class lists.  Our primary goal is to make sure that each classroom is balanced.  This means that each class should have an equal amount of boys and girls along with a combination of students who achieve at all different academic levels.  I am pleased to announce the tentative teaching assignments for the 2017/2018 school year as follows:

  • Kindergarten – Mrs. Mannina
  • Dual Kindergarten:  Mrs. Herbig and Mrs. Yamamoto
  • 1/2 Multigrade –   Mrs. Bardwell, Mrs. Pietryla and Mrs. Sylvia Kim
  • 1st Grade Dual – Mrs. Sanders and Mrs. Bell
  • 2nd Grade Dual – Mrs. Yuri Kim and Mrs. Bach
  • 3/4 Multigrade – Mrs. Fry and Mrs. Walz
  • 3rd Grade Dual – Mrs. Darnall and Mrs. Stob
  • 4th Grade Dual – Mrs. Tanaka and Ms. Mui
  • 5/6 Multigrade – Mrs. Meservey and Mrs. Parker
  • 5th Grade Dual – Ms. Komoda and Ms. Massingill
  • 6th Grade Dual – Mrs. Abe and Mrs. Tufexis

Summer Office Hours:

8:00AM – 3:00PM until Thursday, June 9th.  The office will close on the 9th for summer vacation.

Secretaries will return and be available on August 4th and keep similar hours except on School Of Information Day, Thursday, August 10th.  On this day, new enrollees will be able to register from 9:00AM- 3:30PM AND 6:00-8:00 PM in our office.  During this time, if you have not proven residency you can do so in person OR if you have an established District 54 Portal you can upload the documents there.

PLEASE NOTE:  Class lists will not be distributed on School of Information Day as it has been done in the past.  The classroom placement letters will be mailed home to every family that has completed their residency.  Remember, every family must prove residency every school year.  Also, PTA will not have anything on this day or evening either.  On August 17th, during our Back to School Night, our PTA will be set up in the gym with information about their 2017-2018 programs and volunteer opportunities.

Future Dates:

On August 17th, we will have our annual Back to School Night.  We will kick off the evening at 5:00 with supply drop offs and classroom presentations.  More information will be conveyed in the fall.

Report Cards Online June 5:

Dooley parents/guardians will be able to view their report cards online this semester on June 5, more than a week before the hard copy report cards are mailed on June 14. District 54 is piloting the online report card in an effort to share information in a timelier manner and to become more environmentally friendly by not printing report cards for parents who prefer the online version.

I want to ensure that all of our parents have access to this early viewing of the report card, so I highly encourage you to sign up for the District 54 Infinite Campus Parent/Student Portal before June 5. The portal is a website and app where parents and guardians can view their children’s grades, assignments, immunizations, test scores, demographic information and now report cards.

If you have not previously logged on to the portal, contact our front office for instructions on how to obtain a secure Campus Portal Activation Key.

If you have already created an account, to view the report card on June 5 you must first log in to the account from a computer (the report card will not be accessible in the app).

Click on the Report Card link on the left side of your screen. This link will take you to another page, where you will be asked to log in again for security reasons. After logging in, you will see the report card files for all of your children. Click on any of the report cards to download the pdf file.

This year, on June 14, we plan to mail a report card to each home. Next year, we will only be making hard copies available for families who are unable to access the report cards online.

Summer Wishes and Reminders:

On behalf of Dooley staff, please have a safe and happy summer.  It is truly a privilege to work with each of your children.  A great staff, wonderful children and very supportive parents have made a winning combination.  Thank you for your trust and goodwill this past year.

LEARNING NEVER TAKES A VACATION!  Reading is the key to all we do at school.  Our fantastic public library, Barnes and Noble and Scholastic Books have wonderful resources for all of us to continue to read over the summer.  Read! Read! Read!
