Principal’s Message- May 4, 2018
We have some exciting news……Last night at the District 54 School Board Meeting our 1/2 teacher, Mrs. Kelly Pietryla, was appointed to an Assistant Principal position at Lakeview Elementary for the 2018-2019 school year. As she has served as a classroom teacher at Dooley for the past twelve years, she is excited to take all her experiences as she moves into her new role.
We are sad to announce that Mr. Bob Wroblewski will be leaving us next year. His new assignment will be the Assistant Principal at Hale and Stevenson Schools for the 2018-2019 school year. We thank Mr. Wroblewski for the impact he made at Dooley School this past school year.
We are pleased to announce that Mrs. Laurie Mandarino was also appointed at last night’s board meeting as the new Assistant Principal of Dooley and Dirksen Schools for the 2018-2019 school year. She is also excited to take on this new role.
Celebrate Reading and Writing (Please note DATE CHANGE):
Due to the Addams’ 6th grade concert we have changed our Celebrate Reading and Writing Night. It will take place on Tuesday, May 15th from 4:30-6:00. During this time the school will be open to view your child’s writing pieces. PTA will be providing a special treat and the book fair will be open in the gym. Please find some time to stop in.
Mrs. Abe had a baby boy this past week. Sage Abe was born on May 2nd. Mrs. Abe and Sage are doing well!
Mrs. Hiroko and Mrs. DelMedico will be retiring at the end of this school year. They both have made a lasting impression on Dooley and will be greatly missed. We will be spending the next few weeks celebrating their fantastic career.
On behalf of Dooley Staff, we would like to thank all the volunteers for everything they do behind the scenes to make Dooley such a great place. In honor of all the volunteers, we are sending home a little token of our gratitude with each student today. Thank you for another successful school year and making Dooley the best place to be!
Dooley’s annual Nihon Day is coming up fast! As the teachers and 6th grade dual students plan for the day, they are selling shirts. If you are interested in purchasing a shirt for your child or yourself, please click on this link. Nihon Day is celebrated across the entire school community on May 29th.
Next week begins spring MAP testing. Please try to have your child in school the day he/she tests.
