Principal’s Message- November 16, 2018

Today, many of our students were caught spreading joy throughout the building.  Some students wrote positive messages and posted them throughout our building.  Others wrote emails and letters to staff and students.  There was certainly a lot to smile about today!

Our students have been working hard on their cardboard creations with Mrs. Velasco and Mrs. Wulbecker.  We have been blown away by the creativity and collaboration of our students. Be sure to ask your child about their project!

Report Cards Online November 21

Parents/guardians will be able to view report cards online this semester on November 21. We want to ensure that all of our parents have access to this early viewing of the report card, so we encourage you to sign up for the District 54 Infinite Campus Parent/Student Portal. The portal is a website and app where parents and guardians can view their children’s grades, assignments, immunizations, test scores, demographic information and report cards. If you have not previously logged on to the portal, contact our front office for instructions on how to obtain a secure Campus Portal Activation Key.

The end of each trimester is a great time to pause and reflect about the great work that has happened.  We recognize the importance of celebrating the many victories during the first trimester. Please take some time this week to talk with your child about this past trimester.  Feel free to use some of these questions in your conversation:

What are you most proud of this trimester?

How are you different now than you were in August?

What is one thing you are excited about coming up in the second trimester?

How can I (the parent) help you be successful this trimester?

What goals are you setting for yourself this trimester?

Happiness Advantage

At the beginning of this school year, Dooley families received a copy of The Orange Frog Family Reading Guide. Beginning next week, we will spend time with our students focusing on a variety of Happiness Tactics and Habits.  You can read more about these on page 77 of your Family Reading Guide.  Next week our entire building will focus on sharing gratitudes. Please be sure to share some with your child at home and to ask them about how they shared gratitudes at school.
