Principal’s Message- December 14, 2018

At today’s school assembly, we discussed our Social Emotional Learning theme for the month of December, understanding the feelings of others. Our classroom lessons this month have been focused on this theme.  You can read more about how you can discuss this topic with your child in our Home School Connections. We are excited to share that our sixth grade Choir Club and some of our Early Instrumental Music students will be performing the National Anthem at tonight’s Windy City Bulls Game in support of the District 54 Foundation.  We hope to see you there!

Happiness Advantage

At the beginning of this school year, Dooley families received a copy of The Orange Frog Family Reading Guide. Beginning next week, we will spend time with our students focusing on a variety of Happiness Tactics and Habits.  You can read more about these on page 77 of your Family Reading Guide.  This week our entire building focused on practicing mediation.  This tactic is designed to give your brain a break from our busy world.  Dooley students enjoyed some time relaxing and being mindful throughout their week.  Stay tuned to find out what next week’s Happiness Tactic will be!
