Principal’s Message- March 15, 2019
Thank you to all of our students who participated in Dooley’s Science Fair and to the many parent volunteers who made this event so successful. It was so fun to see the collaboration and creativity in student projects.
Today we took time to say thank you to all of the staff and volunteers that make District 54 an incredible place to work, learn, and have fun! Students in Mrs. Abe and Ms. Meservey’s math classes created a scaled drawing to map out a human 54. #Weare54
As we continue our Happiness Month at Dooley, the theme of next week will be Peak Moment of the Week. Each day, we hope to create memorable moments for our students. Be sure to connect with your child at home and ask them about their Peak Moment each day.
As a reminder, we will continue collecting change for UPS for Downs through Thursday, March 21st. We will conclude the collection with Crazy Sock Day on Thursday for Down Syndrome Awareness. This week, students wrote letters and made cards for children with Down Syndrome, which will be delivered with the final collection.
This weekend, our Happiness Calendar encourages families to draw together. Mrs. Thomas, our talented art teacher, has created a How to Draw an Orange Frog tutorial video for us: http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCkIMKoc_S4kudj0uqENqZBA Have fun drawing! Also, don’t forget to check out this week’s mystery reader! We encourage you to post pictures on social media and tag @DooleySchool54 and #54Happiness.
5th and 5th Grade Band Concert
This year’s band concert will be on Tuesday March 19th: 5th & 6th Grade band concert at Addams at 7pm.
A Note from our Nurse: Staying Healthy
As a reminder, please keep your child home if they have a fever. Students should be fever free and vomit free for 24 hours before returning to school. Thank you for your cooperation!
Registration for the 2019/2020
Registration for the 2019/2020 year will be available through the parent portal starting Monday, April 1, 2019.
If you do not have a parent portal account, you should have received an email on March 15 with instructions and a link to do so.
Beginning this year, the district is contracting with a third-party vendor to automatically verify student address information. If your residency is verified electronically, you will not need to submit any additional paperwork to certify that you live within the district’s boundaries. To verify residency, the vendor will use a parent’s name and address to crosscheck the information against electronic databases from other organizations, such as utility companies.
We anticipate most addresses will be verified electronically. If we cannot verify your address electronically, we will send you a letter detailing what additional information you will need to provide in order to register your child for the upcoming school year.
