Principal’s Message- April 12, 2019

On Wednesday, our entire Dooley staff set out on a mission to show students how very proud we are of them.  In the past month, staff spent time writing messages, sorting, and making delivery routes for over 485 Dooley students. We hope that your child enjoyed coming outside and reading their message. We were overjoyed seeing the excitement of our students!

Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR)

Our third through sixth grade students have been working so hard this week!  We are so proud of them for taking their time and giving their best effort.   With the exception of make-up tests, students in grades 4-6 are finished with their IAR assessments.  3rd grade students will take the English Language Arts IAR assessments on Monday and Tuesday of next week.

Daddy Daughter & Mother Son Dance will be on Friday, May 10th 5:30-8:30 at Keller Junior High.  Please note this date has changed from the originally scheduled day.   VIP Dance.pdf

Muffins with Moms will also be on May 10th from 7:45 am – 8:25 am.  Parents will need to stay with their children until 8:25.

Club Pick-Up

Please use caution when picking up students from 4:00 club dismissal.  Traffic can be congested at this time.  If you are able to park and walk to meet your child it would help to minimize the number of cars in the front pick up line.

Save the Date

Dooley’s annual Celebrate Reading and Writing Night will be on May 15th from 5:00 pm -7:00 pm  PTA will be sponsoring a book fair on that day.  Sales will begin at 8:00 a.m. and will run all day and during the reading and writing event that evening.

Summer Camp Expo – April 24

Visit tables to learn about the various summer camps and programs available for your child in Schaumburg and the surrounding area. This event will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on April 24, 2019, at the District 54 Professional Learning Center, 522 E. Schaumburg Road, Schaumburg. Summer Camp Expo flyer

Summer of 54 Camp Opportunities

What did you do over your summer?  This fall, through the “Summer of 54” camp opportunities, your answer could be: “I learned how to play lacrosse, used the design process to create and design, and/or created different forms of art using digital and non-digital mediums.  The goal of the “Summer of 54” is to provide students opportunities to be active, while enhancing their creative and innovative spirt.  Camp opportunities offer:

  • A range of fun camps for a variety of interests for students in 1st through 8th grade
  • Courses with hands-on, project-based curricula
  • Instruction by District 54 teachers in a positive environment
  • An opportunity to conduct experiments using tools, equipment and technology used within the real-world

District 54 Education Foundation 2019 Memorial Grant applications

The District 54 Education Foundation proudly offers memorial grants for District 54 students to cultivate an academic, cultural or athletic interest. The grants are intended for children from families facing extenuating financial circumstances.

Applications for 2019 Memorial Grants are due Friday, May 3 to the child’s school social worker. Click the link below for the application and additional information.

District 54 Summer Band and Orchestra

Registration for District 54’s Summer Band and Orchestra program has begun!  Students who have completed fifth, sixth, or seventh grade and have had lessons on their instrument in the District 54 instrumental music program for at least one school year are eligible to enroll.  Summer Band and Orchestra will take place July 8-25 (Mondays-Thursdays) at Addams Junior High School.  Registration forms are available from any instrumental music teacher or at  If you have questions, please contact the band/orchestra teacher at your school or call 847-357-5138.  District #54 Instrumental Music Staff
