Henry holding his award

At yesterday’s Board of Education Meeting, Henry received recognition for his participation in the PTA Reflections program. Dooley students Sarah and Bailey were also recognized for their participation in the Japanese Speech Contest.

On Monday, our school will celebrate 20 years of our Japanese Dual Language Program.  We are looking forward to a fun day of learning through a variety of activities.  Please remind your child to wear their 20 Years of Dual Language shirt or red and white.

Our classroom highlight this week is Mrs. Bardwell.  Mrs. Bardwell is a support teacher at Dooley and works with many grade levels. Students had lots of fun in our ABC celebrations and have been working very hard all week.  We hope you enjoy Mrs. Bardwell’s Highlight!

Next year, Mr. Walther will be supporting Campanelli as their full time assistant principal.  We are appreciative of his work at Dooley this year.  We are excited to share that Ms.Seika Kobari will be joining us as our assistant principal for the 22-23 school year.  Ms. Kobari is a familiar face in our school and we know she will continue to do great things to support our staff, students, and community.  Please see the message below from Ms. Kobari.

Tonight is a PTA dine out event at Oberweis.  What a great evening to enjoy a scoop or two! Please see below for more information.

Dear Dooley Community,

It is with great excitement that I write this letter of introduction as the Assistant Principal of Thomas Dooley Elementary School for the 2022-2023 school year. I am honored to support and work alongside Mrs. Schlicher in ensuring student success at Dooley School and becoming a part of this very special community.

Since 2009, I have been working in District 54 and have worked as an educator in many different roles, including: instructional assistant, Japanese Dual Language Resource Teacher, Japanese Dual Language Gr. 5-6 Classroom Teacher, and Instructional Coach in the Department of Language and Culture at the district office. My academic background includes a Master of Arts in Principal Preparation from Concordia University, Master of Science in Education and Social Policy from Northwestern University, and a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Dooley School holds a very special place in my heart as this is where I taught from 2010 to 2014 as a teacher and made such great memories with students, staff, and families. I am filled with absolute joy to return back to the Dooley community and serve as Assistant Principal.

The students at Dooley School are the future, and I am committed to supporting them and focusing on what is best for the students. I look forward to meeting you, getting to know you, and working together with you and the staff at Dooley to help each student blossom and grow.

Warm Regards,
Seika Kobari

Whole Child Profile

Thank you for supporting the home/school partnership as we culminate a successful school year.  Student Whole Child Profiles will be viewable for parents in the portal on May 31st.  We are excited for you to see the growth and progress your child has made over the course of the 2021-22 school year.

End of Year Device Collection and Library Book Collection

We will be collecting all iPads, Chromebooks, chargers, hotspots and cases at the end of the year to be reimaged, cleaned up and redistributed in August. Now would be a good time to find chargers and cases that may have been stored away so they are easily accessible at the end of May.  If there are stickers on the devices please have your child take them off prior to turning in their device.

Prior to the last day of school, please turn in any library books.

6th Grade Send Off, Wednesday May 25th, 1:45 p.m.

6th Grade parents are invited on the last day of school to participate in our tradition of sending off our 6th grade students.  Weather permitting, all students and 6th grade parents will line up outside the school to honor the sixth graders.  6th graders will do one final lap around the building and be cheered on by all Dooley students.  After the final walk, 6th grade students and parents are invited to stay in the gym for pictures and socializing until dismissal, at 2:30 p.m.
