Back to School Night info

We are looking forward to seeing you at our Back to School Night this Thursday, August 11th.  Our teachers have been busy setting up classrooms and planning for what is sure to be an amazing school year!  We are excited to come together as a Dooley family to learn and have fun!  

Please see below for important information about arrival, dismissal, the first day of school, and much more!

Arrival and Dismissal Procedures

Please take a moment to review the 22-23 Arrival and Dismissal Locations prior to the first day of school.  

School Arrival and Dismissal Times

Please review the 22-23 Arrival and Dismissal Times arrival prior to the first day of school.  It is important to note that dismissal is at 3:00 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.  Every Wednesday, students are dismissed at 2:30 so their teachers can attend professional development.

First Day of School

The first day of school for grades 1-6 is on Monday, August 15th.  Students will meet their teachers outside before heading in as a classroom.  

Map of School for Arrivals

  • 1st and 2nd Grades will line up on the blacktop, outside of door 10
  • 3rd and 4th Grades will line up on the blacktop, outside of door 3 (Lowell Lane lot)
  • 5th and 6th Grades will line up on the basketball courts near door 6
  • Bus riders will be directed to their line up spots as they arrive.  

Please communicate any changes to your child’s dismissal with their teacher.

Students should bring lunch and water each day.  

Kindergarten Families

Immunization, physical, dental, and vision forms are required for incoming kindergarteners.  Please drop these off to Nurse Johnson in the main office.

Please mark your calendars for some important Kindergarten dates:

  • Thursday, August 11th:  Back to School Night
    • 5:00-5:15:  Kick off and staff introductions, outside
    • 5:15-6:30:  Supply drop off
  • Monday, August 15th:  Kindergarten Screening
    • You should have received a letter indicating your child’s screening time.  If you have misplaced it or did not receive one, please call our office at 847-357-6250.
  • Monday, August 22nd:  First Day of Kindergarten
    • Students will line up outside, near door 10, in the back of the school at 8:30
    • Teachers will be outside greeting students as they line up
  • Monday, August 22nd:  Tears and Cheers parent event, please see the invite from our PTA below:

Class Placements

Letters from teachers are in the mail.  Additionally, parents can view class placements through the Parent Portal on August 10th.

Bus Passes

If your child rides a bus, you will receive a bus pass in the mail the week before school starts.  The bus pass will include the pick up and drop off times, and the location of the bus stop.  Please make sure your child brings his/her bus pass to school every day.

Dooley PTA Information

Your 2022/23 Parent Teacher Association is ready to go. Individual memberships are $12, or you can quickly sign up for yourself and spouse/co-parent all at once for $24. Show your support and join now!

It’s the little things. The PTA wants to Stock the Lounge for our teachers and staff. Let’s surprise them this year with some tasty and useful treats. See the attached flyer.  

Your old gym and athletic Shoes can benefit the PTA.  We have partnered with Got Sneakers! to collect used shoes, worth up to $7 per pair.  Click here for more info.  Remember, shoes that tie together fly together  (what, you got a better rhyme?)

No Food Deliveries Allowed

With a focus on student and staff safety, District 54 will not allow food delivery services (including, but not limited to, GrubHub, DoorDash, and local restaurants) to our schools. We will continue to have hot lunch days, which are planned events, organized and supervised by school or PTA volunteers. However, we will no longer accept other outside food deliveries to keep our schools secure.

Dates to Look Forward to

August 11th:  Back to School Night 5:00-6:30

August 15th:  First Day of School, Grades 1-6

August 15th:  Kindergarten Screening (At scheduled times)

August 17th:  2:30 Dismissal (Every Wednesday)

August 19th:  PTA Dining Night Out, Oberweis Back to School Dine Out

August 22nd:  First Day of Kindergarten
