Instructions for Coin Wars Fundraiser

We are excited to share that our Dooley Student Ambassadors are hosting a Coin War fundraiser next week.  Proceeds from this event will go to Amita Health Cancer Center.  Please see the flyer above for more details.

As a reminder, Wednesday, January 26th is a half-day for students.  Dismissal is at 11:40.

Dooley PTA Auction Baskets:  Donations Needed

The Dooley PTA is coordinating auction baskets/items for the Schaumburg Township Council of PTAs Annual Auction Event and we need your help! Each year the Schaumburg Township Council of PTA’s offers college scholarships to former District 54 students, and summer experience scholarships to current students. The funds to support these scholarships are raised during the STC’s Annual Silent/Live Auction event. Each of the 28 schools in SD54 are asked to contribute.
Since all our Dooley students can benefit from the scholarship funds offered by the STC (visit https://sd54.org/pta/ for more info on scholarships), we are asking the entire school for donations (but make sure to join the Dooley PTA today so you can apply for scholarships).

We are looking for NEW / UNOPENED ITEMS listed below:

Any Crayola Brand School Supplies (crayons, markers, craft kits, paper, coloring books, paints, chalk, clay, canvases etc.)

Target or Walmart gift card (any amount is helpful) that can be used to purchase additional items for the baskets. Please be sure to include receipt or value amount with gift cards.

If you have a local business, we would love to highlight it either with a product or service donation (with your business named on the auction platform)

Donation items must be dropped off at the school office prior to February 1st.
Please contact Nicole at [email protected] to coordinate other delivery/pick up of donations or with any questions. Thank you for your support to the Dooley PTA!

District 54 Open Enrollment Fair

District 54’s annual Open Enrollment Fair will be held virtually on Wednesday, January 26 at 6:00PM.  The Open Enrollment Fair is an evening designed for families with incoming kindergarten students to learn more about the District 54 schools that offer programs of choice.  Dooley will be represented as we showcase our Japanese/English Dual Language Program.  In order to make sure that no one misses the fair, we are asking for your help to spread the message to any neighbors that may have an incoming kindergarten student for the 2022-2023 school year.  More information about open enrollment schools represented at the fair can be found at:   https://sd54.org/openenrollment/

Drop Off

The snow has arrived and it is slippery out.  Please only cross your child at the designated crosswalk.  Do NOT encourage your child to cross in the middle of the street.  We also ask that parents do not cross children in the middle of the street.  It is very dangerous.

COVID-19 Mitigations

  • Prior to returning to Dooley tomorrow, make sure that your child is healthy and not experiencing any symptoms of illness.  If your child is sick, please keep them home and call the school office at 847-357-6250.
  • As a reminder, you should notify us if your child or anyone in your home tests positive for COVID-19 or if your child has been in close contact with anyone who tests positive for COVID-19.
  • Your child should come to school with a mask that fits well over their nose and mouth.  We encourage you to send your child to school with a three-layered mask.  It is a good idea to send your child with an extra mask to keep at school. Mesh masks and gator masks are still not permitted for use. If your child comes to school with one of these masks, they will be provided a disposable face mask for use.
  • Social distancing is another mitigation strategy that we will continue to have in place. We will maintain 3-6ft of social distancing throughout the day.
  • Free COVID testing will continue to be available all school days at the School District 54 – Rafferty Administration Center at 524 E. Schaumburg Road, from 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. For more information please click on the link:

Free SHIELD Testing

District 54 is offering free COVID-19 SHIELD drive-up testing to all students and staff. Please note that ANY student or staff member can get a test regardless of their participation in the weekly SHIELD surveillance testing.  Please note:

  • The test is the same saliva-based test used in surveillance testing.
  • Individual being tested never leaves their car.
  • Results are available within 24 hours.
  • Individuals will be contacted with a phone call from the District office the next business day following testing with results.

Testing is available all school days from 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. at School District 54 – Rafferty Administration Center located at 524 E. Schaumburg Road, Schaumburg. More information can be found here:  https://sd54.org/shield-testing/

COVID Dashboard

With suburban Cook County now in a level of high community transmission of COVID-19 (Cook County Department of Public Health), District 54 has decided to create COVID Dashboards on each school’s website to provide families and staff with a transparent summary of instances of COVID-19 reported to District 54. A positive case indicates that the student or staff member has tested positive for COVID-19. Please report cases of COVID-19 to our school so that we can initiate contact tracing. Parents/guardians of students identified as close contacts will be contacted directly to discuss next steps. District 54 will update these dashboards by 3 p.m. on Fridays when school is in session.
