Students in front of their art projects

On Saturday, we enjoyed seeing many students at the District 54 and Schaumburg Park District Multicultural Event.  You can see some highlights of our student performers in this video.  It was wonderful to celebrate the diversity in our community through performances, activities, and crafts. We are grateful for the many volunteers who helped with this event.

Student artwork from District 54 schools are on display at the Prairie Arts Center.   The photo above highlights Dooley artists Mia, Caylin, Anja and Grace.  We loved seeing their creative pieces on display.

IAR (Illinois Assessment of Readiness)

Each spring, students in District 54 take federally mandated assessments (IAR) designed to help school districts understand how our students are growing academically.  This year, the English Language Arts and Math Assessment for grades 3-8 will be given at school between March 6th and March 24th. More information will come as we get closer to the assessment window. Please reach out to your child’s teacher if you have any specific questions.  Students worked so hard this week.  Our  schedule for next week is below:

  • March 11, 13, 14:  Math grades 3, 4, 5 & 6
  • March 15-17:  Science grade 5

PTA Offers Summer Scholarships

The Schaumburg Township Council of PTAs (STC) is once again offering scholarships for District 54 students who wish to broaden their education, talents and experiences in summer programs and camps. Students are eligible to apply if they are currently in kindergarten through seventh grade and if they have a parent or guardian who is a current PTA member at the school the child attends. Click here for more information and to access the PTA Scholarship Applications. The application is due by Friday, April 7, 2023. Scholarships will be awarded for the full cost of the program up to $125. Parents/guardians are responsible for registering their children for the camps and then the PTA will forward the scholarship checks directly to the summer program.

5Essentials

Once again we are reaching out to our families and asking you to participate in the annual Illinois 5Essentials Survey to provide us with your perspective and help guide our school improvement efforts. The parent survey will be available online through March 31, 2023, at survey.5-essentials.org/Illinois

The survey takes about 10 minutes to complete and is available in English and Spanish. Note: the survey will time out and you will need to start over if you don’t finish in one sitting.

If you have more than one child, you may complete the survey for each child. You will be asked to select your county and then your child’s school.
