Drawings of American Eagles by students for Veterans Day

Students spent time this week listening to stories, reading, writing, and talking about Veterans Day in their classes.  On behalf of Dooley school, we would like to say thank you to the Veterans in our community!

This week we would like to highlight Ms. Giammarese’ 3rd and 4th grade class.  We hope you enjoy reading their Together We Can Padlet.

Vision and Hearing Screening

Vision and hearing screening will take place at Dooley on Thursday, November 18th.  Students in grades 2, 4, 6 and special education will have vision screening.  Students in grades K, 1, 2, 3 and special education will have hearing screenings.  It is important to note that screening at school is not a substitute for a complete eye exam and vision evaluation by a physician.  Children who wear glasses and/or are under the care of an eye doctor do not receive vision screenings at school.  Please contact Nurse Johnson anytime during the school year for a vision or hearing screening if you have a concern.

Free SHIELD Testing

District 54 is offering free COVID-19 SHIELD drive-up testing to all students and staff. Please note that ANY student or staff member can get a test regardless of their participation in the weekly SHIELD surveillance testing.  Please note:

  • The test is the same saliva-based test used in surveillance testing.
  • Individual being tested never leaves their car.
  • Results are available within 24 hours.
  • Individuals will be contacted with a phone call from the District office the next business day following testing with results.

Testing is available all school days from 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. at School District 54 – Rafferty Administration Center located at 524 E. Schaumburg Road, Schaumburg. More information can be found here:  https://sd54.org/shield-testing/

COVID Dashboard

With suburban Cook County now in a level of high community transmission of COVID-19 (Cook County Department of Public Health), District 54 has decided to create COVID Dashboards on each school’s website to provide families and staff with a transparent summary of instances of COVID-19 reported to District 54. A positive case indicates that the student or staff member has tested positive for COVID-19. Please report cases of COVID-19 to our school so that we can initiate contact tracing. Parents/guardians of students identified as close contacts will be contacted directly to discuss next steps. District 54 will update these dashboards by 3 p.m. on Fridays when school is in session.
