November 29, 2021

As we approach Thanksgiving, we want to take a moment and thank each and every family for being part of this amazing Dooley community. We are grateful for our supportive families, dedicated teachers, and kind students.

As a reminder, there is no school this Wednesday through Friday.  Students will return on Monday, November 29th.  We wish all of our families a very Happy Thanksgiving!

PTA Holiday Shop…Volunteers Needed

Dear Parents:

Your child is invited to attend our upcoming holiday gift shopping program at school. The shop will run on Thursday December 2nd and Friday December 3rd.   Both days are during school hours only.

This exciting program makes it possible for children to experience the joy of choosing their own special holiday gifts for family and friends.     The program also provides a safe learning experience for children in the budgeting and use of money.

The gifts are moderately priced, with most under $5 and a few special items between $5 and $12. Parent volunteers will assist your children in the shop with their purchases, based on the amount of money they bring and the number of persons to shop for.  There is a preview site to be viewed please go to link https://6293500.holidaytreasures.com/ .  You will also have an opportunity to order gift vouchers for your child to use instead of sending them with cash.

They do not have the on-line ordering option anymore, so if you know your child will be absent, you can send your order and money to Dooley School:  Attention Holiday Shop, before December 2nd.  PTA does accept checks please make out to Dooley PTA (no credit cards, you can purchase the voucher on-line if needed).

No later than December 1st  your child will come home with an envelope, a wish list and flyer for the holiday shop.  Please make sure that the envelope comes back to the school on Thursday for your child to shop.  If your child forgets or doesn’t bring their money they will not be allowed to shop.

Some gifts sell out quickly we encourage the children to pick another gift at the same price, or we can order the items to be received the next week

We will need a few adult volunteers to help during the shop. This will be a very rewarding program.  We are looking for volunteers that are vaccinated.   Volunteers are needed each day and for setup on Wednesday December 1st.  Click HERE to volunteer.

Sincerely,
Dooley PTA

Dooley Family Traditions

We would like to take some time to celebrate and honor all of the different cultures and traditions we have here at Dooley School.  Over Thanksgiving break we would like students to interview a family member about their family traditions.  Some ideas to talk about include:

  • The holidays your family celebrates, if any
  • Your favorite family traditions or activities
  • Traditional foods your family enjoys
  • Your favorite places to go as a family
  • Your favorite family activities
  • Other interesting things about your family

Today, students will come home with an envelope that includes all of the necessary materials for this project.  Please have your child return the completed materials on Monday, November 29th.

COVID Dashboard

With suburban Cook County now in a level of high community transmission of COVID-19 (Cook County Department of Public Health), District 54 has decided to create COVID Dashboards on each school’s website to provide families and staff with a transparent summary of instances of COVID-19 reported to District 54. A positive case indicates that the student or staff member has tested positive for COVID-19. Please report cases of COVID-19 to our school so that we can initiate contact tracing. Parents/guardians of students identified as close contacts will be contacted directly to discuss next steps. District 54 will update these dashboards by 3 p.m. on Fridays when school is in session.
