List of Spirit Week Days

Thank you to Mr. Pappas for hosting this year’s Turkey Trot!  It was a beautiful afternoon to be outside and active.  We appreciate the generosity of our families in donating non-perishable foods for this event.  14 boxes of food were delivered to the Township of Schaumburg food pantry.

This week we would like to highlight Ms. Komoda’s 3rd grade dual language classroom.  Students shared some of their best moments from math, writing, science, and digital citizenship week.  We hope you enjoy the Room 221 Highlight!

Scholastic Book Fair Success!!

A huge THANK YOU to all families for attending the book fair!  Because of your support, Dooley’s Library was able to purchase over $800 in books and the birthday book club purchased over $100 in books!  In addition, the PTA earned over $1000 for PTA events and an additional $1000 for the Dooley Library to use in the future for even more books!  Thank you!

Book Fair Orders – Delayed

Thank you to all the families that supported the book fair during conferences!  We know that many students had to order their books as there were not enough copies available at the fair.  The order was placed immediately on October 8th.  Unfortunately, Scholastic is experiencing shipping delays.  Dooley has not received the books yet.  Once the book order arrives, they will be quickly organized and sent to the classrooms to be delivered to the students.  I appreciate your patience and understanding.  If you have any questions, please contact Jacqi Schuetze at [email protected]

Panera Dine-Out Results

Thank you to all families that dined at Panera on Thursday, October 7th!  Dooley PTA will receive a check for $202.49 to help support their events (like Donuts with Dads and the Fun Fair).

Halloween

Dooley’s Halloween celebration will take place on the afternoon of Friday, October 29th. Students should bring their costumes to school on that day.  Costumes must go over their clothing, as we will not be permitting students to change in the restrooms.
We will have a costume parade that begins at 1:15 p.m., weather permitting.  We will parade outside of the building exiting the front doors, down Norwood Street to Bradford and back to the school.  Parents are welcome to watch our parade from the designated area outside the front of the school OR line up along Norwood Street.  Our staff and students enjoy spectators along the route. We ask that families wear masks when viewing the parade, if not able to maintain 6 feet distance outside.

Halloween is a fun and special time of year for many children.  In order to ensure the safety and well-being of our children, please keep in mind the following considerations:

  • Students will be required to wear a proper fitting mask with their costumes
  • Weapons and ‘look alike’ weapons are prohibited
  • Refrain from costumes that depict violence (no fake blood or gore, please)
  • Do not bring hair coloring sprays to school

A party arranged by the PTA Halloween party planners and helpers will take place following the parade in classrooms.  Only party planners and party helpers who are assigned to support in classrooms will be allowed in the building during parties.
Dismissal for Friday, October 29th will be at the regular time (3:00 p.m.).  Students will not be expected to change clothes prior to their departure.  We appreciate your support in following these guidelines so Halloween is enjoyable for all.

District 54 is offering free COVID-19 SHIELD drive-up testing to all students and staff. Please note that ANY student or staff member can get a test regardless of their participation in the weekly SHIELD surveillance testing.  Please note:

  • The test is the same saliva-based test used in surveillance testing.
  • Individual being tested never leaves their car.
  • Results are available within 24 hours.
  • Individuals will be contacted with a phone call from the District office the next business day following testing with results.

COVID Dashboard

With suburban Cook County now in a level of high community transmission of COVID-19 (Cook County Department of Public Health), District 54 has decided to create COVID Dashboards on each school’s website to provide families and staff with a transparent summary of instances of COVID-19 reported to District 54. A positive case indicates that the student or staff member has tested positive for COVID-19. Please report cases of COVID-19 to our school so that we can initiate contact tracing. Parents/guardians of students identified as close contacts will be contacted directly to discuss next steps. District 54 will update these dashboards by 3 p.m. on Fridays when school is in session.
