Hopefully, you all had a chance to read the email sent by the district on Friday. The email includes a link to a detailed plan that we believe will allow us to safely bring students back to school using a hybrid model (2 days a week on campus and 3 days remote). Families can also choose to remain in full remote learning five days a week.

Please log into http://families.sd54.org and select Hybrid On-Campus Model or Full Remote Learning by 6 p.m. tomorrow, Oct. 6. If we do not hear from you by this time, we will assume you are choosing remote. If you cannot access your portal account, you may call the school or email me your choice.

All principals are sending a follow-up email today, so that you know you can reach out to us with any questions specific to our school or your child. We also want to make sure that you understand that the plan shared Friday is based on the public health information we have at this time. The plan may be adjusted as new guidance from the Illinois State Board of Education, Illinois Department of Public Health, Centers for Disease Control and other public health officials is received or as necessary to best support the health and safety of our students and employees. All updates will be posted online at sd54.org/reopeningd54 and shared with our families and employees.

At this time, students would return on October 19. It is possible that date could be pushed back. It is also possible that at any time during the school year, we may have to move to all students attending school remotely. We want to make that clear to you up front and promise that we will keep you informed as soon as possible of any changes.

We also want you to know that we are still working out some specific details based on your responses. Once we know which students are choosing each option, we can assign your children to Group A or Group B, assign bus routes and assign where your child will enter the school.

We all share the same goal – the academic success and social-emotional well-being of the children in this community. Thank you for all of your support as we work together to achieve this goal.
