This year is our 7th Annual Walk-4-Anderson! Dooley school has a special place in our hearts for our furry friends, so we are collecting food and other items for the Anderson Animal Shelter in Bloomingdale, Illinois. We will be “kicking” off the collection with a walk-a-thon on Wednesday, September 30th from 4:00-5:00 p.m. We will begin this event by singing our new theme song for this year, "Our Dooley Team Works!" and our school song. Mr. Pappas will then start our walk-a-thon (or run) around Dooley School. Ms. Velasco will have a book walk posted along the course so you can enjoy a story as you walk! Our fantastic PTA will be supplying free treats for our participating Dooley students!
We are starting our collection that night, so we will have decorated boxes (from Mrs. Thomas) outside of the school for donations! This is a great opportunity to show kindness to others and teach our kiddos that if we work as a team, we can contribute to making a significant change! Here are some of the items that Anderson Animal Shelter really needs:
*Cat and Dog Wet Food (Any Brand, Any Formulas)
*Dog and Cat Toys
*Kongs (med-XL)
*Cat and Dog Treats, especially Lickable Cat Treats
*Laundry Detergent (to wash the animals' bedding)
*Dishwashing Detergent (used to clean the kennels and crates)
*Paper Towels
*Stainless Steel No-Tip Pet Food Bowls
*Clean and gently used blankets and/or towels

We will have tables outside the office on Thursday, October 1st and Friday, October 2nd to place donatons, if a student would like to bring a donation to school!
