Volunteers at the Donut Drive-thru

We have enjoyed our time connecting with families this week during conferences.  Whether on Zoom or in person, we appreciate you making time to meet with your child and our teachers to talk about goals for the year and celebrate their accomplishments.

We would like to take a moment to say thank you to our PTA volunteers this week.  We packed in fun with a book fair, Panera dining night out, and donut breakfast.  Rain or shine, our parent volunteers made sure to make this week was fun and memorable for our students and families.

This week we would like to highlight Ms. Whowell’s fourth grade dual language classroom.  Students created a slide deck to show some of their favorite moments.  We hope you enjoy the Room 224 Highlight!

As a reminder, there is no school on Monday, October 11th.  We hope you enjoy the long weekend!

Erin’s Law

Again, this year, we will be implementing a child sexual abuse prevention program in our schools as the result of the passage of Public Act 097-1147, also known as Erin’s Law.  This law expanded upon previous legislation and required child sexual abuse prevention education for children beginning in pre-kindergarten and continuing through all grade levels.  Our students will be participating in lessons in their classrooms over the next several weeks.  If you have any specific questions, please contact the main office. A letter with more specifics about this law can be found here. Erin’s Law LetterErin’s Law Letter, Japanese

Free SHIELD Testing

District 54 is offering free COVID-19 SHIELD drive-up testing to all students and staff. Please note that ANY student or staff member can get a test regardless of their participation in the weekly SHIELD surveillance testing.  Please note:

  • The test is the same saliva-based test used in surveillance testing.
  • Individual being tested never leaves their car.
  • Results are available within 24 hours.
  • Individuals will be contacted with a phone call from the District office the next business day following testing with results.

Testing is available all school days from 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. at School District 54 – Rafferty Administration Center located at 524 E. Schaumburg Road, Schaumburg. More information can be found by clicking on the SHIELD Testing Flyer.

COVID Dashboard

With suburban Cook County now in a level of high community transmission of COVID-19 (Cook County Department of Public Health), District 54 has decided to create COVID Dashboards on each school’s website to provide families and staff with a transparent summary of instances of COVID-19 reported to District 54. A positive case indicates that the student or staff member has tested positive for COVID-19. Please report cases of COVID-19 to our school so that we can initiate contact tracing. Parents/guardians of students identified as close contacts will be contacted directly to discuss next steps. District 54 will update these dashboards by 3 p.m. on Fridays when school is in session.
