You all are invited to join the Japanese Dance Club! In this club, we will be learning about, and expressing Japanese culture through a Japanese dance. This year we will perform at Dooley elementary as part of the Japanese Dual Language 20th Anniversary Celebration in May! It will be a fun and exciting opportunity for students to learn about Japanese culture, and to have fun performing!!
This club is offered to all 4th, 5th and 6th grade dual language students. Anyone in the 4th, 5th and 6th grade dual classes can join the club regardless of dancing experiences! Space in the club is limited, so if there are more students who want to join than the spaces available, we will choose by raffle.

I wanted to remind you that all students should attend school on Tuesday, March 15. Schools were originally closed on that day due to the primary election. However, a new state law moved the election to June and therefore, the District 54 School Board revised the 2021-22 calendar in October to align with the change. Because students are in school on March 15, the last day of school will now be May 25 for students and May 26 for school personnel.
Once again we are reaching out to our families and asking you to participate in the annual Illinois 5Essentials Survey to provide us with your perspective and help guide our school improvement efforts. The parent survey will be available online through March 11, 2022, at survey.5-essentials.org/Illinois. For more information, click here.
It’s not too late to order school lunches. Jump in any time. Ordering is done online and it has a weekly lockout so order week to week, month to month or for the entire session. Many great menu options daily with rotating vendors. See the attached “Fun Lunch Open Registration” for registration steps. Please let us know any questions or comments at [email protected]

With suburban Cook County now in a level of high community transmission of COVID-19 (Cook County Department of Public Health), District 54 has decided to create COVID Dashboards on each school’s website to provide families and staff with a transparent summary of instances of COVID-19 reported to District 54. A positive case indicates that the student or staff member has tested positive for COVID-19. Please report cases of COVID-19 to our school so that we can initiate contact tracing. Parents/guardians of students identified as close contacts will be contacted directly to discuss next steps. District 54 will update these dashboards by 3 p.m. on Fridays when school is in session.
