Dear Dooley Community, 

The 23-24 school year is just a few weeks away and Dooley staff has been eagerly getting ready to kick off the year with our students! We really look forward to seeing the familiar faces of returning Dragons as well as warmly welcome our new students and their families. We know it is going to be an amazing school year filled with learning and fun! 

The Dooley Newsletter will be sent out weekly on Fridays.  Please see below for important information about Back to School Night, the first day of school, arrival and dismissal, and so much more!

Back to School Night

We look forward to seeing you at our Back to School Night on Thursday, August 17th! 

• 5:00-5:15 Welcome and staff introductions outside main entrance (weather permitting)
• 5:15-6:30 Supply Drop-Off and Meet the Teacher

During the event, be sure to check out our annual story walk around the perimeter of the building, stop by our PTA and S.O. tables, and enjoy a sweet treat from the ice cream truck! We’d love for you to share pictures with us by tagging us on Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook @DooleySchool54. 

Dooley School Hours and Start Date

Mark your calendars! We are excited to welcome 1-6 grade students on Monday, August 21. Kindergartner’s first day of school is Monday, August 28. On the first day of school, students will meet their teachers outside before heading into the building as a class. Please take a moment to review the 23-24 Bell Schedule prior to the first day of school. It is important to note that dismissal is at 3:00 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Friday. Every Wednesday, students are dismissed thirty minutes early at 2:30 PM. 

Arrival and Dismissal Locations

Please take a moment to review the 23-24 Arrival and Dismissal Locations prior to the first day of school. 

• 1st and 2nd Grades will line up on the blacktop, outside of door 10
• 3rd and 4th Grades will line up on the blacktop, outside of door 3 (Lowell Lane lot)
• 5th and 6th Grades will line up on the basketball courts near door 6
• Bus riders will be directed to their line up spots as they arrive.

School Supply Lists

Be sure your Dragon is ready for school! Here is the link to our school supply lists by grade level. 

Busing

Information regarding bus routes will be mailed to your home before school begins. If you have questions about transportation, please reach out to our Transportation Department at 847-357-5104. 

Class Placements  

Student classroom assignments will be available beginning on Wednesday, August 9.   Classroom assignments will be shared via the Parent Portal so make sure your account is up and running. For additional support with logging in to the Parent Portal, kindly contact the District 54 portal support desk at [email protected] or call 847-357-5110.

Kindergarten Families

Immunization, physical, dental, and vision forms are required for incoming kindergarteners. Please drop these off to Nurse Johnson in the main office. Please mark your calendars for some important Kindergarten dates:

• Thursday, August 17th: Back to School Night
  • 5:00-5:15:  Kick off and staff introductions, outside
  • 5:15-6:30:  Supply drop off and meet the teacher
• Monday, August 21st: Kindergarten Screening
  • You should have received a letter indicating your child’s screening time.  If you have misplaced it or did not receive one, please call our office at 847-357-6250.
• Monday, August 28th:  First Day of Kindergarten
  • Students will line up outside, near door 10, in the back of the school at 8:30
  • Teachers will be outside greeting students as they line up

PTA News

The PTA is so excited for the 23-24 school year. We have so many fun things planned for the Dooley Families. Show your support and help us make this year the best yet! Individual memberships are $12, or you can quickly sign up for yourself and spouse/co-parent all at once with a family membership for $22. Join now! 

Annual Back to School Stock the Lounge

Each year we try to stock the teacher’s lounge with some tasty and healthy snacks. We want to make sure our teacher’s are energized and ready for school to start too! Drop off donations to the collection box at Back to School night! Click here for more information!

School Supplies

If you ordered school supplies through the PTA in spring, they will be delivered right to your child’s classroom in time for Back to School Night. 

The Fall “Grow with the PTA” event is on!

Treat yourself with some fall mums to bring some extra color to the season.  $11 each. Red, yellow, orange and purple mums are available.  We have a limited quantity of each color. Click here to see the flyer and Order Now to make sure the colors you want are available! 

We can’t wait to see all the Dooley families at Back to School Night!

Be sure to stop by the PTA table to see what we have planned for the year and sign up to volunteer for different school events. We are so excited to be partnering with Cook’s Ice Cream to have a special Scoop Bus that will have yummy ice cream for sale! Each serving will be $5 and $1 of each sale will go towards our Dooley PTA. CASH ONLY.
