It was a great week at Dooley School! Our 4th graders put on a wonderful music concert on Thursday evening, featuring songs about Lunar New Year, Black History Month and Girl’s Day in Japan. Shout out to Mrs. Conrad and our 4th graders for a great performance!
We’d also like to recognize our talented students who performed at the District 54 Multicultural Fair on Saturday. The Dooley group performances included; It’s a Small World, Dooley Japanese Chorus Club, Soulful Anthology in Tamil Traditions, and Japanese Dance Club. Great job, Dragons!
We are also proud of our students for their efforts on the IAR test this week! Our testing will continue through next week for our 3rd-6th graders.
We have so much to look forward to this spring! Please see below for information about our Japanese Culture Night which is coming up on April 12th.
Our staff highlight this week is Mrs. Velasco. We hope enjoy reading all about Mrs. Velasco’s Library Classes!
Each spring, students in District 54 take federally mandated assessments (IAR) designed to help school districts understand how our students are growing academically. This year, the English Language Arts and Math Assessment for grades 3-8 will be given at school between March 4th and March 24th. The classroom teachers will communicate your child’s specific testing dates. It is important that your child get a good night’s sleep and eats a healthy breakfast to prepare them for the day. If you know in advance that your child will be missing school on the day of testing, please communicate that to your child’s teacher so we can plan for make-ups.
Once again we are reaching out to our families and asking you to participate in the annual Illinois 5Essentials Survey to provide us with your perspective and help guide our school improvement efforts. If you do not want your child to participate, please contact your school principal by Monday, February 5. If you have children at more than one school, you must contact the principal at each school. The parent survey will be available online through March 29. Click here for the link. For more information, visit the District 54 website.
The countdown to an extraordinary journey has begun! Kindergarten registration for the 2024-2025 school year is now open! If you have a child who will be starting kindergarten in August 2024, we encourage you to visit our new Welcome to Kindergarten website and begin registration today. As a current District 54 family, you will register through your Infinite Campus Parent Portal account. If you do not have your login, please contact [email protected]. After completing the online portion of your student’s kindergarten registration, please call our school to make an appointment to turn in necessary documents. If you can, bring your future kindergartner with you, as we have a special surprise for them!
District 54 is also asking for your help in spreading the word about kindergarten registration. If you know of a child who will be 5 years old by September 1, 2024, please encourage the family to register today by visiting the sd54.org/kindergarten website. The sooner students enroll, the sooner District 54 will know how many kindergarten teachers we need to best serve our kindergarten class of 2024-25
