It was a chilly and short week at Dooley, but a GREAT one! Please read below for important information about our D54 e-learning plan and ipads being sent home for our K-2 students this week.
Beginning this week, students in Kindergarten through second grade will begin to bring their iPads home each day through March 20, 2025. K-2 students will also bring home a charger. The charger needs to be returned to school on March 20th. Students are to bring their iPads back to school each day, charged. As a reminder, iPads are an instructional device and should only be used to access the instructional apps that are installed on the iPad. As stated in the Instructional Device Agreement, parents/guardians are responsible for monitoring home internet access.
Do you have a child who will be starting kindergarten in August 2025? We are excited to share that kindergarten registration will begin on Jan. 22. We encourage you to visit our Welcome to Kindergarten website now, to familiarize yourself with the process and begin gathering needed documentation. Current District 54 families will complete the online application starting Jan. 22 through their Infinite Campus Parent Portal account. We also ask for your help in spreading the word about kindergarten registration. If you know of a child who will be 5 years old by September 1, 2025, please encourage the family to save the date and check out the Welcome to Kindergarten. The sooner students enroll, the sooner District 54 will know how many kindergarten teachers we need to best serve our kindergarten class of 2025-26.
Now that winter has arrived, we wanted to remind you about District 54’s eLearning plan. Should an emergency day be needed, the first two closures will be traditional school cancellations. On these first two days, we will not have e-learning. Should additional cancellations be necessary, District 54 will have up to three eLearning days, ensuring the last day of school occurs no later than Friday, May 30, 2025.
Should a school cancellation occur, families will be notified as usual and the notification will indicate whether it is a traditional closing or eLearning day.
