We had a wonderful week at Dooley School! Our students enjoyed participating in the Japanese Calligraphy Assembly. All our students had the opportunity to create a calligraphy piece on their own following the demonstration. We’d like to express our gratitude to Mrs. Takahashi for partnering with our volunteers to organize this amazing cultural experience for our students.
I have thoroughly enjoyed teaching another action packed school year with all of the children from Dooley Elementary School. As the end of our school year is approaching, it is that time to begin our planning for Field Day. Dooley’s Field Day is a day to celebrate all of the hard work and accomplishments that the students have achieved throughout the past school year. On Field Day, all of our students have the opportunity to participate in games and activities. Our Field Day has been a success in the past due to our devoted parents and Dooley volunteers.
Throughout the day, there are many games and activities stationed throughout the school for all of our students to participate in. Teachers and students rotate and are allotted a designated time at each station as the day progresses. In the past, parents have graciously volunteered their time to help manage the stations and to make this day as smooth as possible for all of the kids. Please know that parents will be facilitating the stations, so you would not be able to bring younger children with you.
This school year, Field Day will be Friday May 23, 2025. We also have a rain date on Tuesday May 27, 2025 If you are interested in helping manage stations and games for students on Field Day please fill out the Google Form. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me through phone or e-mail. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on Field Day!

Dooley’s Field Day is a full school day event. The day is about celebrating our student’s hard work all school year, showing good sportsmanship and having fun at a variety of outdoor activity stations! Each grade has a team color that they are encouraged to wear!
Kindergarten: Orange 1st Grade: White 2nd Grade: Red
3/4th Grade: Green 5/6th Grade: Blue
School District 54 requires that any student who participates in a team OR intramural sport, (e.g. cross-country, basketball, wrestling, volleyball, cheer, poms, or track) must have a current, approved physical on file in the health office prior to tryouts. The physical must be administered by a physician or nurse practitioner and include the parent section completed and signed.
Since sports physicals are valid for 365 days from the date of the exam, parents of students who are interested in participating in any junior high sport are urged to schedule a physical exam during the summer months. These appointments fill up quickly! A summer check-up will allow the student to participate in any sport throughout the school year. If you have any questions, please go to https://sd54.org/healthservices/ for details.
Sports physicals may be sent to Jr. High beginning August 5th, 2025. Please do not email them before this date as email is not monitored during the summer months. PLEASE MAKE A COPY OF THE PHYSICAL FOR YOUR OWN RECORDS BEFORE TURNING IT INTO THE SCHOOL. A copy of all 8th grade sports physicals will be required by the high school.
On Thursday, May 29th, we invite you to join us as our 6th graders take their final walk through Dooley halls. Please plan to meet outside of the main entrance at 2:15 on Thursday, May 29th. Students will walk throughout our halls, head outside door 11, finish their walk with a tunnel outside from parents and then into our main doors where they will gather in the gym. Families are encouraged to make signs and cheer on the 6th graders. Please let us know if you have any questions!
