Our students and staff are savoring all of the peak moments that the last few weeks of school bring. Our whole school enjoyed Nihon Day put on by our amazing 6th grade dual language students and Mrs. Tufexis and Mrs. Abe!  We’d like to express our gratitude to Mr. Pappas and our volunteers for a successful and FUN field day!
We also enjoyed our Kindergarten Music concert this week. Shout out to Mrs. Conrad and our Kinder students for a great performance! Congratulations to our EIM students for a spectacular spring concert on Tuesday evening. We are so grateful to all of our EIM families for supporting our amazing musicians.

Summer Resources

It’s hard to believe that summer is around the corner. District 54 has exciting opportunities for students to continue learning throughout the summer months.  To find out more specifics about our Summer Learning Site, summer reading lists, and DreamBox click here. These activities are a fun way to help sustain and grow your child’s academic, social, and emotional success throughout the summer months.

Physicals Required for Junior High Sports

School District 54 requires that any student who participates in a team OR intramural sport, (e.g. cross-country, basketball, wrestling, volleyball, cheer, poms, or track) must have a current, approved physical on file in the health office prior to tryouts. The physical must be administered by a physician or nurse practitioner and include the parent section completed and signed.

Since sports physicals are valid for 365 days from the date of the exam, parents of students who are interested in participating in any junior high sport are urged to schedule a physical exam during the summer months. These appointments fill up quickly! A summer check-up will allow the student to participate in any sport throughout the school year. If you have any questions, please go to https://sd54.org/healthservices/ for details.

Sports physicals may be sent to Jr. High beginning August 5th, 2025. Please do not email them before this date as email is not monitored during the summer months. PLEASE MAKE A COPY OF THE PHYSICAL FOR YOUR OWN RECORDS BEFORE TURNING IT INTO THE SCHOOL. A copy of all 8th grade sports physicals will be required by the high school.

6th Grade Families

On Thursday, May 29th, we invite you to join us as our 6th graders take their final walk through Dooley halls.  Please plan to meet outside of the main entrance at 2:15 on Thursday, May 29th. Students will walk throughout our halls, head outside door 11, finish their walk with a tunnel outside from parents and then into our main doors where they will gather in the gym.  Families are encouraged to make signs and cheer on the 6th graders. Please let us know if you have any questions!
