We are excited to spotlight Mrs. Varney this week. We hope you enjoy seeing how she supports our students and staff! Mrs. Varney’s Highlights.
As mentioned in this morning’s announcement, we are excited to share that Mrs. Kristine Belt will join our Dooley community as the next building principal. We know she will do wonderful things to support our students, staff and families in this new role. During the next several weeks, Mrs. Belt will work closely with us to ensure a smooth transition. If you did not have a chance to read her letter this morning, we have included it below.
Dear Dooley Community,
I would like to take this opportunity to officially introduce myself and share my excitement about serving as the next building principal at Dooley Elementary School for the 2023-2024 school year. The District 54 School Board of Education approved my appointment last night and I am honored to partner with your great community and lead the Dooley students and staff next school year.
I’ve had the privilege of working in School District 54 for the last 17 years. I began my career in District 54 as a dual language teacher at MacArthur International Spanish Academy. I later went on to work as an instructional coach for the Department of Language and Culture. As a teacher and coach, I was inspired to continue my education which led me to acquire an EL Endorsement from National Louis University and a Masters of Education in Leadership and Organization from the University of Illinois. These past 4 years, I’ve had the opportunity to serve as the Assistant Principal at Nerge Elementary School. Due to my years of experience in the district, I know firsthand how the curriculum, instructional practices, and positive culture make District 54 schools exemplary places to send your children.
Personally, my husband Brent and I live in Park Ridge with our five year old son, Samuel, and our two year old twin daughters, Hailey and Madeline. We are excited for our son to start Kindergarten this fall and we are embracing all of the energy and excitement that comes with having twin toddlers!
In the coming months, I will be working closely with Mrs. Schlicher to ensure a smooth and seamless transition for the 2023-2024 school year. Additionally, I look forward to getting to know the entire Dooley community. Please feel free to reach out to me at any time at [email protected] to share with me a little about your family and what you are most proud of at Dooley. I am confident that together we will provide an exceptional educational experience for the students at Dooley School!
Sincerely,
Kristine Belt

District 54 is committed to ensuring not only the academic success of each child, but also their social-emotional wellbeing. Your insight as a parent/guardian is essential in creating the most well rounded picture of your student’s strengths and opportunities for growth. To gather your perspective, District 54 will send families of students in grades 3-8 an email link for each child to the District 54 Personal Assessment of Core Competency Survey on Monday, April 17th. Thank you in advance for participating in this survey, as we believe the home-school collaboration is critical to best support your child’s overall well-being.
