What a wonderful first week we had with our Dooley Family. Students started the week off with an assembly, listened to the story, Our Class is a Family, by Shannon Olsen, and participated in many activities to build relationships with their new classmates and teachers. In visiting classrooms, it is clear to see that our Dragons quickly adjusted to their routines and are engaged in learning. We are so proud of our students! If you are looking to celebrate a fabulous first week, we invite you to join us at Oberweis for our first PTA dine out event of the year!
Each week we like to spotlight one of our Dooley classrooms. We hope you enjoy seeing what our students are doing across all grades throughout the year. Our first highlight is Mrs. Abe’s 6th grade dual language class. Students had an awesome week developing expectations, sharing about their summer adventures, and connecting as a family. Please take a look at the Room 219 Highlight!
We are pleased with how our arrival and dismissal procedures are going for week one. Parents and guardians, please remember never to cross your child in the middle of the street. All students and adults should use the crosswalk at the corner of Lowell and Norwood Lanes. Additionally, parents can use the drop and go in the mornings.
Beginning on Tuesday, August 23rd, Dooley students will take the NWEA Measures of Academic Progress (MAP), assessments in math and reading. These assessments happen three times a year. Our teachers use the data from MAP, along with other classroom based assessments, to gather information on how our students are progressing, so we can best support them at school. You will find our testing schedule below:
Our MAP testing schedule is:
