It was a busy week at Dooley School! We celebrated our students at our whole school PBIS assembly, wrapped up ACCESS testing, and kicked off our Dooley February GLIMMERS! We hope you’ve enjoyed listening to your child’s glimmers this week as much as we have!
Our staff highlight this week is Mrs. Yamamoto’s Kindergarten Class. We hope you enjoy reading all about Room 103.
It certainly feels like winter outside, but Dooley school is glimmering with Happiness inside! During the month of February, our students will be writing down their GLIMMER OF THE DAY on a small note with the hopes of sharing this positive news with their family and doubling the great feelings that were experienced during the school day. We encourage you to talk with your child/children about their GLIMMER OF THE DAY. Some ideas for collecting and sharing glimmers in your home throughout the month of February include:
We can’t wait to hear about the creative ideas you come up with as a family!
Once again we are reaching out to our families and asking you to participate in the annual Illinois 5Essentials Survey to provide us with your perspective and help guide our school improvement efforts. If you do not want your child to participate, please contact your school principal by Monday, February 5. If you have children at more than one school, you must contact the principal at each school. The parent survey will be available online through March 29, at survey.5-essentials.org/Illinois. For more information, visit the District 54 website.
Our fourth, fifth, and sixth grade families received a link to the pre-recorded Reproductive System webinar on Friday, February 2nd. This link will be available through Monday, February 12th for your viewing. This will be an opportunity for parents and guardians to preview the materials presented to the students. The webinar is accompanied by a Frequently Asked Question page to support the materials our intermediate students will be receiving soon. Please feel free to reach out to our nurse, your child’s classroom teacher or me with any questions.

The countdown to an extraordinary journey has begun! Kindergarten registration for the 2024-2025 school year is now open!
If you have a child who will be starting kindergarten in August 2024, we encourage you to visit our new Welcome to Kindergarten website and begin registration today. As a current District 54 family, you will register through your Infinite Campus Parent Portal account. If you do not have your login, please contact [email protected].
After completing the online portion of your student’s kindergarten registration, please call our school to make an appointment to turn in necessary documents. If you can, bring your future kindergartner with you, as we have a special surprise for them!
District 54 is also asking for your help in spreading the word about kindergarten registration. If you know of a child who will be 5 years old by September 1, 2024, please encourage the family to register today by visiting the sd54.org/kindergarten website. The sooner students enroll, the sooner District 54 will know how many kindergarten teachers we need to best serve our kindergarten class of 2024-25.
You are invited to join us on February 7, 2024 from 5-6 p.m. as District 54’s Multicultural Parent Advisory Council presents a session for parents on “Supporting Your Student’s Learning at Home“. Join us as we discuss how parents can partner with the schools to help their students continue to grow as learners. We will also explore different strategies and resources for navigating homework and the learning process. To sign up for the session, please contact Barbara Velez (847) 357-5074.
The Windy City Bulls will host a District 54 takeover night on Thursday, Feb. 29, at the NOW Arena in Hoffman Estates, and a portion of the proceeds from each $25 ticket purchased will be donated to the District 54 Education Foundation Crisis Fund to support families in our community.
