It was another fantastic week at Dooley School! Thank you to all of our families for joining us on Thursday at the 4th Annual Dooley-4-Anderson Walk-a-thon. We appreciate your generosity and donations to the Anderson Humane. We know there will be a lot of happy animals when our team drops off the supplies. We also want to give an extra special shout out to our Superhero Specials Team for making this event successful, fun, and engaging for our community! We also want to thank our PTA for providing delicious popsicles after the walk!

Our spotlight for the week is Mrs. Johnson. Mrs. Johnson is our 5/6 Classroom Teacher. We hope you enjoy reading Room 118’s highlight!

Erin’s Law

Again this year, we will be implementing a child sexual abuse prevention program in our schools as the result of the passage of Public Act 097-1147, also known as Erin’s Law. This law expanded upon previous legislation and required child sexual abuse prevention education for children beginning in pre-kindergarten and continuing through all grade levels. Our students will be participating in lessons in their classrooms in October.  Please read the attached letter for more information.  Contact us  with any specific questions.

Walk or Roll to School Day: October 4

We invite you and your family to participate in Walk or Roll to School Day on Wednesday, October 4. The village is collaborating schools to educate the community on the environmental, health, and congestion-easing benefits from bicycling and walking to school. Our focus is to encourage students to identify a safe biking or walking route to school and promote participation that will sustain healthy habits beyond this biannual event. Bicycling and walking to school offers many health and environmental benefits for children, improves pedestrian safety, and helps to reduce traffic and congestion.

2023 Personal Assessment of Core Competency

District 54 is committed to ensuring not only the academic success of each child, but also their social-emotional wellbeing. Your insight as a parent/guardian is essential in creating the most well rounded picture of your student’s strengths and opportunities for growth. To gather your perspective, District 54 will send families of students in grades 3-8 an email link for each child to the District 54 Personal Assessment of Core Competency on Monday, October 2nd .  The survey will remain open until Friday, October 20th.  Thank you in advance for participating in this survey, as we believe the home-school collaboration is critical to best support your child’s overall well-being.
