Dooley’s PTA presents Zootopia Friday, Feb. 24, at 6 p.m. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Come in pajamas and bring a pillow and blanket to get comfy. If you’d like a chair, please bring your own. Admission is free! The PTA will be selling snacks. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Please do not drop off your child and leave.
Join us at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the teacher’s lounge as the PTA discusses what to do about snacks during classroom parties.
Concerns over food allergies are intensifying.
Last year, the PTA began providing universal snacks so every class would have the same food in an attempt to make sure every child is safe. But it has proved difficult, if not impossible, to provide a snack that is safe for every child.
Given the life threatening nature of some food allergies, we are thinking is might be best for all involved to forgo food at classroom parties. Parents as well as volunteers providing the snacks can rest easy and enjoy the party, secure in the knowledge that no one will get sick.
The PTA meeting scheduled for Dec. 12 has been canceled since we have nothing much to discuss at the moment and everyone is busy getting ready for the holidays. Happy Holidays!
The winter holidays are right around the corner and Dooley is here to help you and your children celebrate with the annual holiday gift shop on Thursday, Dec. 1, during school hours in the gym.
Students will have a chance to shop for small gifts for family and friends. More information on the merchandise will go home in your child’s take home folder closer to the date.
But right now, we need parents to volunteer to help children find the gifts they have chosen, work the cash registers and help wrap gifts.
We really need Japanese speakers between 9 a.m and 11 a.m. to help smaller children find the items they want and pay for them.

Halloween is on a Monday this year, but that won’t stop us from celebrating.
Dooley’s PTA will provide apple juice and Skinny Pop popcorn to all classrooms to be enjoyed during the Halloween parties on Monday, Oct. 31. The PTA also will provide plates and cups to serve the juice and popcorn.
All classroom party organizers can begin setting up for the parties at 12:30 p.m., which gives you time to get outside and see the costume parade at 1 p.m.
Parties begin at 1:30 p.m. Only the party organizer and three designated helpers will be allowed in the classrooms for the parties.
This year’s fun fair on Friday, Sept. 30, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., promises to be the biggest and best ever. There will be a haunted house, lots of games and cool prizes, an inflatable obstacle course, and a magic show! But the PTA needs a lot of help from parents to make this a success. Please click on the button below to sign up to run a game, check people in or serve food. Thank you for your support!

Please note, when ordering slices of pizza on Thursday, checks should be made out to Dooley School. When ordering bento lunches on Monday or Japanese sweet breads on Tuesday, checks should be made out to Schaumburg Oyanokai. Fun Lunch, Wellness Lunch and Treat Day are fundraisers for the PTA and checks should be made out to Dooley PTA.
Don’t miss out on Schaumburg Oyanokai’s Obento lunch offerings, including Japanese sweet breads.
Dooley’s PTA is offering a charming variety of spirit wear this fall. Check out the Dooley Dragon with his kite commemorating the school’s 50th birthday. Or maybe you would like a cozy fleece or flannel pajama bottoms to stay warm this winter. There also are professional polo shirts with an all new trademark, which uses a dragon’s tale to form a capital letter “D.”
