Treasurer’s Report. Anne Maurer. Scrip cards made just under $300. Previous was $200. Holiday Shoppe made about $600. Market Day is very successful. Ending balance as of $24,393.10.

Correspondence. None.

Principal’s Remarks.
-Getting ready for conferences on Thursday and Friday, as well as the book fair.

President’s Report.
-Future PTA meetings will be held in the evening, because of low morning attendance.
-More volunteers needed for book fair.
-Working on STC auction baskets for high school scholarships. Executive committee will take care of creating the themed baskets, since nobody signed up to chair the committee. Letters will go out to the grades to collect donations towards the
purchase of items for the baskets. It’s still a work in progress. Email Sarah Eftefield with any questions.
-Need a nominating committee. Email Sarah if you are interested in chairing or helping out.

Committee Reports.
-Hiromi Satoh will send out another SCRIP gift card order form soon.
-Mother/Son event – tentatively scheduled for late February.

Unfinished Business.
-Excess Funds. Julie LaFrenere contacted the STC to find the best way to handle it. According to STC, items bought for the school become Dist 54 property and could be moved to another school per Dist orders if needed somewhere else,
so encourage $ be used for activities vs stuff. We need a committee to work nailing down ideas. Need 2-3 members, principal or asst principal and a couple teachers. Denise Wayda & Tracy Sorge volunteered.
-Tracy Sorge asked about getting a line-item added to the budget mid-year in lieu of spending the total excess funds. For example, field day lunch, bereavement fund.

New Business.
-Renee Ingoldsby is planning for a science assembly. More information to come.
-STEM program (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). Interactive lab with 75+ displays. Over $2000 and goes for 4 hours. This may be a possibility for next year instead of the Fun Fair.

December PTA Meeting Minutes

Posted December 29th, 2011 by snakano

Called to Order at 8:47 AM by Sarah Eftefield, PTA President.

Declaration of Quorum Present. We do not have a quorum, only 9 members present.

Treasurer’s Report.
Anne Maurer. Ending balance as of today is $23,939.23. Fun Fair made about $900, which is $400 more than we budgeted for. Over $675 profit on holiday shop.

Secretary’s Report.
Minutes approved without any additions or corrections.

Correspondence. None.

Principal’s Remarks and Discussions.

-  Last Thursday, musical and art show went smoothly.

-  Finishing up MAP testing today and most students are making gains. Company had to rescore K and 1 MAP scores from last fall, as the norm scores were not calculated correctly. K and 1 parents will receive a letter from the company regarding this.

-  Winter parties start at 1:15 on Friday.

-  Girls on the Run has started up.

-  GEMS program has not started up here at Dooley. Denise Wayda questions if Dooley could possibly start up. Dr. Flaman says it would be tricky because there’s not a teacher to sponsor it and there are many activities at lunch time now.

-  Renee Ingoldsby – What to do with excess funds? Maybe mini grants for teachers for classroom materials. Dr. Flaman thought it would be good to divide it between teams of teachers and clubs. Request for ideas on how to use the funds will be put in the newsletter in January, 2012, with specific guidelines. Members, the board and Dr. Flaman will finalize the guidelines before the letter goes out. A tallying rubric for approving the requests will have to be created as well.

President’s Report.

- Fuddruckers, B&N and gift-wrappers. All went great

- 3/4 concert and art fair were successful, as well as the bake sale. Around $240 made at bake sale.

- Holiday shop was a really fun time. Thank you to Linda Weiszmann and Kelly Miller. Linda liked the company they worked with for the supplies.

Committee Reports.

-  Renee Ingoldsby is researching for another assembly. Possibly one with actors portraying people from history or a music one with Elgin Symphony.

-  Mother/Son. Anne Maurer. On a Sunday at the end of January or beginning of February. Looking at several places for bowling again. Looking for a dad to take pictures at the event. If you know of anyone, contact Anne.

Unfinished Business.
No unfinished business.

New Business.

- Auction. Sarah Eftefield. Dooley is responsible for 5 baskets to be donated for the high school scholarships program. Needs help filling out forms on-line to get donations from businesses. STC will give us a list of businesses to ask for donations. This can be done at home. If you’re interested, contact Sarah Eftefield.

Announcement. Next PTA meeting will be Monday, January 9 at 7:00 pm.

-November 28 is the first day of the winter MAP testing window.
-Teachers have been helping students with goals.
-Report cards come home next Tuesday.

President’s Report.
-Rhonda Conrad & Kristin Thomas think the night of Dec. 8 would be a good time for the PTA to have a fund-raiser coffee area or snack area in the Teachers’ Lounge if we want to. This would be while the 3/4 concert is going on.
-Fun Fair – Thank you to all the volunteers for helping out! The PTA made about $1000 profit. Suggestion: we may need a new pizza vendor for next year. This year’s vendor left their oven and freezer in the school for a couple days before picking it up.

Committee Reports.
-Holiday Gift Shop. Dec. 14 is preview day and the 15th is sales day. PTA will need volunteers to work that.
-Barnes & Noble fund raiser event. Saturday, Dec. 4. Nancy Wells. We have a couple groups performing at various times between 12:00 and 2:30. Gift-wrapping will be done from 12:30 to 3:30. Does PTA or another group want to take charge of that and earn the profits? Meghan Parker said that the Drama Club would like to take it. B&N will collect gift ideas from teachers to have on display at the event.
-Mother/Son even tentatively planned for February.
-We still need a volunteer to head the Muffins with Mom committee. Email Sarah Eftefield saraheftefield@comcast.net.

Unfinished Business.
-Hiromi Satoh would like the PTA to help with starter money for Girls on the Run. Starter money is $500. PTA is not sure if we can donate $ for a select group of students and not have something for other students. Maybe Hiromi could put a group together to volunteer during concert on Dec. 8.
-Budget Approval. Motion made by: Meghan Parker. Motion carried, budget approved.
-Bylaws Approval. Motion made by: Meghan Parker. Motion carried, bylaws approved.
