Author Ashley Spires Visual from Ashley's Spires presentation

One of our Magnificent Moments this week was hosting author, Ashley Spires, for an all school webinar. During her presentation, she read her book, The Most Magnificent Thing, talked about her creative process as an author and illustrator, and even answered questions from our own Dooley Dragons. We would like to extend our gratitude to Ms. Frieders, for organizing this opportunity for our school.

Our classroom highlight this week is Mrs. Takahashi’s dual language kindergarten. Students had fun writing about spring and learning about 2-dimensional shapes this week. We hope you enjoy the room 103 Highlight!

As a reminder, there is no school tomorrow, April 2nd. Tuesday, April 6th is also a non-attendance day. We hope you enjoy the nice weather this weekend!

Arrival/Dismissal Procedures

Parent Information_ Hybrid Arrival_Dismissal.pdf

Please have your child(ren) line up in the classroom location assigned. As a reminder, students must maintain social distancing and be wearing a mask. Parents are asked to wear a mask when on campus.  There are painted yellow lines already spaced out for distancing. We ask that you please do not stand with/next to your child so that we can adhere to safe social distancing protocols while waiting to come into the building. Students will be welcomed in at 8:30, with a staggered entrance procedure. Students should not be on school property prior to 8:25.  At the end of the day, students will exit the same door they entered.

IAR (Illinois Assessment of Readiness)

Each spring, students in District 54 take federally mandated assessments (IAR) designed to help school districts understand how our students are growing academically.  This year, the English Language Arts and Math Assessment for grades 3-8 will be given at school over three days between April 5th and April 23rd.  The classroom teachers will communicate the specific days your child will be testing. Remote learners are not required to test, however, if you would like to bring your child into school for testing please reach out to Ms. Conway at 847-357-2099.  Remote learners will be provided with alternate lessons during the three testing days. Thank you in advance for your flexibility and support as we complete these assessments.
