photos from Arbor Day including planting a tree

This week we are feeling very grateful!  Students spent time sending kind emails and writing notes of appreciation. Staff enjoyed reading these thoughtful messages all week. Additionally, Mr. Rizzetto planted some flowers near our front entryway…our school looks beautiful and inviting!  Lastly, we are grateful for our partnership with the Village of Schaumburg, who planted a tree in celebration of Arbor Day and spent time talking with our 3rd and 4th grade students.  What a magnificent week it has been!

Our classroom highlight this week is Tufexis’ sixth grade dual language classroom.  Students have prepared slides to tell about their learning and collaborating from the week.  Please enjoy the Room 113 Highlight!

As a reminder, please be sure to make your selection for the 21-22 school year if you have not already done so.  Please see below for details.

Families, please continue to wear a mask when picking up and dropping off your children. Our playgrounds and parking lots can get congested at times.  Your cooperation is appreciated.

Tonight is Virtual Culture Night!  We hope to see you on Zoom at 7:00.

Spring In-Person MAP Assessment

This spring we will test kindergarten through eighth grade students using the MAP assessment tool.  The MAP testing window is from May 3rd – May 14th.  The computer-based assessment will be administered to students in-person because we know that the most reliable administration and data point comes when students are tested in-person. The purpose of the assessment is to continue to obtain data points on our students and to continue to plan for instruction that meets the needs of each student.

With the testing being in-person on assigned days/times it will be important for the school to partner with families to help this process be as successful as possible.

Important Details on the Spring  MAP Assessment:

  • Students will be seated with a minimum of 3 feet of social distance
  • Masks will be required
  • Remote students invited to the building to test
  • Parents or caregivers of remote only students will be responsible for transporting students to and from school on their testing day/time
  • Communication to remote students regarding the date and time of the assessment will be coming from the school
  • MAP testing does require great focus and stamina on the part of the students; therefore, on the days your child is testing there will not be additional instruction.

If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to your child’s teacher for more details.

District 54 Home Olympics

Physical Educators from across District 54 invite you to take part in this year’s Field Day from the comfort of your own home or backyard the week of May 3rd-May 7th.  All stations can be created using materials from around your home.  Find time for fun on one night, or make the fun last all week!   We have also teamed up with the District 54 Grizzlies, our Special Olympics team, to add adaptations for students who need them so we are sure everyone can participate!  We look forward to seeing your photos and comments on each school’s Padlet

2021-2022 Registration

Registration for the 2021-22 school year will open on Monday, March 29 through the Infinite Campus Portal. Please login to review the current information and make any necessary changes. If you do not have a portal account, you should have received an email on March 13 inviting you to create one.

As a reminder, all families are required to prove that they live within District 54 boundaries every year. If we are unable to verify your residency electronically, you will receive a letter by U.S. mail, which will list the residency documents you can provide to the school office to complete your registration.

You are also able to pay the $50 consumable fee for 2021-22, as well as purchase milk and sign up for the instructional device insurance through the portal. If you believe you will qualify for the Free Lunch Program in the 2021-22 school year, and therefore will receive a fee waiver, do not pay the consumable material fee now. Applications will be available in August for the Free Lunch Program.

Information about busing will be mailed the first week in June. Should you have any questions, please our office. Thank you for your cooperation.
