News

November 11, 2022

On behalf of Dooley students and staff, we would like to thank all of the Veterans in our community and wish you a Happy Veterans Day.  All week, students participated in various activities to learn about Veterans Day.  They listened to stories, wrote letters to Veterans, created patriotic art, sang songs, and much more.  Our peak moments from the week include the third and fourth grade Thank a Veteran concert and an assembly for our 3rd thru 6th graders. Our patriotic craft sale earned over $750, which will be directly donated to the Honor Flight Chicago organization. We would like to extend our gratitude to Mrs. Conrad for all of her concert preparations and to Mrs. Thomas for coordinating many opportunities for students to show their creativity with patriotic art.

Our classroom highlight this week is Ms. Giammarese’ 3rd grade class.  Although it was a short week at school, students had fun at their concert last night and learned many things during today’s assembly.  We hope you enjoy the Room 226 Highlight

Parents please see below for information on our Secret Gratitude Project.  Our goal is to have 100% of families participate.  Letters are due on Monday!  Additionally, please sign up for a fall conference.  Information about how to schedule a time is linked below.

Secret Gratitude Project – Your help is needed

We need your help!  Parents and guardians, we kindly ask that you write a letter of gratitude to your student(s).  We are planning to deliver kindness notes in November and would like every child to have a letter of gratitude written to them from their parent, guardian, or other special relative.  This is a SECRET project…so please do not share the details with your child.  There are a few ways you can get your letter to our school:

  • Write a letter and place it in a sealed envelope, labeled with your child’s name, room number, and the heading School Gratitude Project
  • Write your letter in an email to your child’s teacher.  Teachers can then print out the letters and place them in envelopes
  • Hand deliver your letter to our main office, labeled with your child’s name, room number, and the heading School Gratitude Project

All letters are due by Monday, November 14th.  If you need paper or envelopes, let us know!  We hope you have fun with this project, as we know how special each student will feel when they receive a letter from their family.

Conference Sign Up

School District 54 is making it easier than ever for families to schedule conferences with teachers. We’ve partnered with “Meet the Teacher” to provide a mobile-friendly and easy-to-use system that creates a simple and streamlined scheduling experience. To login and schedule a conference, please visit https://schooldistrict54.meettheteacher.com/ and enter the information in the text fields. Please make sure you enter the information that matches the student’s registration. If you have more than one child in District 54, you will only have to use one child’s information to login. The system will show you options for all the students in your household after you login once.

Once you’re in the system, you’ll be able to select your child’s/children’s teacher(s) and your preferred dates and times. If you prefer to have your conference virtually via Zoom, please add a message to the conference when prompted and type in the word “Zoom.”  If you prefer to have an in-person conference, please leave this blank. If you would like to change or delete any scheduled conferences, you can do so by logging in again with the same information. We encourage you to bookmark the website https://schooldistrict54.meettheteacher.com/ on your phone, tablet, or desktop to review, possibly make changes, and for future parent-teacher conference sessions.

For more detailed information on how to login and navigate the site, please view our guide below.

If you have any questions, please call 847-357-6250.

Parking changes

The Village of Schaumburg has approved changes in parking on Lowell Lane and Norwood Lane.  Traffic can be congested on these streets with cars and buses.  The changes in parking can ensure traffic flow is smooth and the safety of our students is prioritized.  These changes will go into effect on November 21st.  Please see the image below to familiarize yourself with the adjustments.
